Some - too naive II
Heard from my malaysian chinese friends (really very nice and rich people) that m'sia do not recgonize honours degree as the employers do not know what it is and they only accept MASTER degree after your bachelor degree. I feel it is really ridiculous in a number of ways. (1) Recently, empolyers (e.g SIN, SYN etc) have been looking out for Honours holders because only students who have good grades are allow to do honours. (2) Students who took honours means that they are capable and smart. (3) Honours student are able to do their project in a short time frame which means they are good in their time management. (4) Many more.......
Additionally, some people think that if their practicals/hand-ons are good, they are a notch higher and more successful than those whose studies are good. Well, as a matter of fact, things do not work this way in Science. If you are thinking this way, then I shall say you are naive. Before a wet lab is performed, a dry lab have to be done. For example, bioinformatics analysis, literature search etc. Hence, knowledge is still powerful.
Yes, you might wonder if you are smart and your expts are shit = nothing. That's not true! Because if you are a post doc or prof or PHD holder, you have LAB TECHsss to work for you and under you. So you just need the knowledge and tell them what to do and blame them for not successful whatsoever. If it is successful, your name will appear on the last (fyi: only important name appear on the last!).
Another thing to note that UQ have changed their education systems so please do a check out on it. UOM still remains the same, I supposed. UNSW still the same as well as UWA.
Oh! If you are planning to study in UNSW/ANU/UOM, please ensure that you can cope with the "city stress" because the rest of the U are quite layback.Hope that helps! =Dx.o.x.o Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ x.o.x.o
